My son and I had lots of fun digging this gold digging toy to see what kind of Orr we found. He really liked digging for Orr just like Minecraft he said. I only wish there were more than one cube to find.
This was super easy for my son to do, and he enjoyed it. He's done the big digs before and this was just perfect for that quick dig and faster reward. He also loved the gem he got from it.
This was a fun little activity to do with the kiddos, I had my 8-year old son help me break the "rock." It was kinda tough and took awhile with the tools provided. Also it was messy so either do it outside or use a towel or something. We didn't get a gold nugget though, we got some square brown stone. All in all it was fun and I'd recommend.

Archeologist
My grandson loved doing this pretend gemologist dig..he really had alot of fun..this can be a little messy..recommend putting news papers down if not done outside..so your child will get a small tool and gently chips away at the sand block until they find the crystal..very exciting if they enjoy the world of crystal's and their astrological mean.

Cute, but really messy toy
I would like to give this a higher rating but the tools included with the bring were difficult to use by our kids. I understand that, for safety reasons, sharper tools should not be part of the box but there has to be other ways to help the kids dig for the treasure.

Great fun for any age!
The Giggle Zone Gold Dig Toy was extremely fun and we all had fun watching the little ones dig for treasure! It’s the perfect size for little kids and their little hands, and although it’s a little messy, it’s easily maintained with a plastic or paper mat. It was easy enough for them to dig into the hardened sand and find the rock and it was fun for them to imagine what it would be! I’m an adult and I found this to be very entertaining. I can’t wait to look around and see what else this brand has! I definitely recommend these to anyone who loves digging for treasure!

Useless tools and difficult to dig in.
My son loved the idea of digging for gold and the possibility he could get REAL GOLD! It's a really neat idea but the overall reality of this excavation was a bit disappointing. The shape is a block of gold (cool!) but it's REALLY hard. I was helping my son dig and smash into this thing, and it was still pretty difficult. The tools do basically nothing. They're more for show than utility. Again, my son thought they were cool but struggled with them, and even started smashing the block onto our concrete to break it apart a little. The stone we got was, I believe, a cube of Red Jasper. It's cut but not shined, and didn't come with a list to figure out what he excavated. I had to figure it out myself. Not a big deal, but I'm not for sure. Overall, he said he had fun and likes what he got. As a parent, I'm a bit disappointed for him. I'd recommend it only as a time occupier, but not the most exciting for your money.
Gave it to my grandkids, ages nine and 11 and they enjoyed it very much. They did not find gold in there, but they found stuff in there, and was very pleased at how they could get into it.

Disappointment
This was a total disappointment. At first my children and I were excited to test this product. We opened the box and got the tools and tried to start to dig. The sand was super hard. After a few minutes of digging we started to see something. Finally got it out and it was a square rock. I was more interested in the sand than the rock. My daughters wanted to finish digging in hopes of something more to be in there worth excitement. But there wasn’t. I would not recommend this to anyone. It would be a complete waste of money.

Fun for a 6 yo!
This was a good toy for a 6 year old to occupy time for a bit! My child loves science things like this and has an interest in rocks and gemstones. He was eager to open this and chisel away, curious as to the gem he would get. It was fun and he loved it but we were a bit disappointed in the gemstone we got. It was a rust colored “rainbow stone” cut into a square. While nice, it wasn’t like “mining for real gems.” Overall though, we would buy this activity again!
My son loves learning and sometimes it is hard to find thinks he would enjoy. This is a perfect stocking stuffer or little extra gift if you child loves to learn like mine. I especially love how everything you need is included. It is great fine motor learning for children.

Difficult to break apart.
Our kids were so excited when they received a Giggle Zone Gold Dig Toy, and I was impressed that the tools were enclosed. Unfortunately the tools were of little help, and we were not able to break open the gold easily. I finally sprinkled it with a little water, and the children were able to easily break the gold brick open. Voila! The gold contained a reddish stone, and everyone was pleased. Definitely not for young children, and a bit messy, but fun after we added some water. I think these will make cute gifts for stockings. My husband needed a knife to open the packaging, so adult supervision is required. We received our gold free of charge in exchange for our honest opinions.
The playset was fun, the only downside was the tools did not have much effect on mining for gold. I wish it was a little easier to mine for kids.

A bit messy
My 8 year old son was excited to try out this gold dig toy and actually enjoyed it saying it was fun. I think kids enjoy the surprise of which one they’ll get.
This can be messy so it’s important to play with it on a piece of paper (we used cardboard). The “gold” is basically a very hard brick of sand I guess you could say. It’s too hard to break with your fingers and does include some plastic tools used to dig. When you start chiseling it, it feels like super fine sand, definitely not something you can reuse.
Overall, the toy is fun BUT it is a one time thing. You can’t bury it and dig it back out. My son got the obsidian stone in his which looks more like a piece of coal than anything to me.
My son did ask for another one which I’ll definitely buy. This toy would make a nice stocking stuffer or Easter basket filler.
