Wow... fast, efficient brilliant steamer
First time I’ve used a steamer, and I’m very impressed. Was very easy to put together each compartment stacked up neatly, has a nice sturdy base, looks very stylish, nice high gloss black base with brushed stainless steel. I liked that you can Safely and easily top the water up through a spout at the bottom. The vents at top are in perfect position, so you can lift it up without burning yourself from the steam. There’s a gauge on front indicating how much water is left too. I found the steamer heated up very fast, cooked my vegetables very quickly. Was super easy to clean and stacks away nicely In cupboard. Looking forward too using again and trying some rice.
I was really excited to receive the Ultra compact steamer. It is a beautiful neat piece of kit and doesn't look messy left out on the kitchen side. I cooked a piece of salmon, poatoes and broccoli and each were cooked to perfection however maybe this is sold as a steamer for experienced people! There was no instructions only very vague instructions on the box. no guide to say how long ingredients should be cooked for or for how long.
For what looks like an expensive piece of equipment, I was left feeling disappointed over the littlest of things, that the lid just sat on the top and didn't seem to fit properly, no instructions.
Would I recommend the Tefal Ultracomact steamer, yes, it is worth it - the quickness of the cooking and the quality of the product is brilliant and far outways the lack of instructions!

Great steamer
It is bigger than expected and include a rice bowl so it is possible to steam an entire healthy meal for family of 3-4. Veggies are crispy and meat/fish soft and moist. Easy to use and store-great for space saving.
It can go in the dishwasher which also makes life easier. Highly recommend.
The Tefal Ultracompact Steamer was easy to assemble and sturdy. It was very straight forward to use, just turn the dial to the appropriate time for what you are steaming. I particularly liked the slide out compartment to add in more water during steaming.
I would recommend this product for family cooking.
I really enjoyed this steamer. I found it quite easy to use once you understand the instuctions which are all in pictures, so i think that qritten instuctions would be a good idea.
I also think a measuring jug would be a good addition, so its easier to use especially when using the cleaning function.

Tefal compact Christmas dinner
I got my Tefal Ultracompact Steamer VC204865 to test from Home Tester Club. It took me a while to actually use it as I had a lot of meals already pre-preprapared due to disability.
So on Christmas Eve I prepared all the veg for Christmas along with the salmon. I put the salmon in the bottom layer on top of the sprouts with some sliced lemon. Middle layer was carrot's and cauliflower. Top layer was green beans and broccoli.
I put it all on for 35 minutes. Everything was cooked to perfection. Obviously I cooked to much for 4 people
So I have more meals in the freezer. A win for everyone. Merry Christmas
Although this steamer is called compact as the three trays fit neatly inside each other for storage, the steamer holds a large quantity of vegetables. I used 3 packs of baton carrots, 2 heads of broccoli and 2 packs of mini sweetcorn and they all cooked perfectly in the 3 tray steamer. Water is poured into the main unit and can be easily topped up during cooking via a pull out slot on side of unit to pour water into. There is then a cover over the water with slit openings to allow the steam through. This also collects the condensation drips. As the veg in the lower tray was cooked first, I removed this but unfortunately the second tray up does not fit onto the drip tray so I had to transfer the veg from the top tray into the bottom tray to continue cooking. This is a very minor flaw as the steamer more than makes up for this by the quality of cooking and overall taste. I much prefer my veg steamed in this way than in the microwave. There is also a timer. Highly recommended!
The steamer is excellent, I was very pleased with the results. It’s large enough to cook an entire meal for my family. It’s easy to store as it stacks away very neatly.
We decided to wait till Christmas Day to try the regal steamer, as this would be the best test preparing dinner.
Normally a job full of saucepans and kitchen full of steam.
To setup out of the box each tray was numbered so no issues setting up.
But very surprised we had six vegetables all in the steamer all on the same time in 30 min all the vegetables were ready half the normal time, no cross over flavour and minimal cleaning.
Very surprised by us all and took the stress out of Christmas dinner.
This is a large capacity steamer, very smart and cooks/steams to perfection, well worth the money and a great brand name.

Very impressed
Wow this is a game changer. I've never used a food steamer before or had any interest in using one. I was invited to test this out and it arrived just before Christmas. I was hosting for 10 people and didn't know whether to risk using the steamer for the first time or not. I didn't find the instructions very easy to follow as there are just diagrams rather that writing but my mother in law has the same steamer (and loves it too) so she gave me abit of advice. I cooked potatoes, carrots and brussels in it and they came out perfect. Everything cooks within an hour and then I used the water for our gravy. It was delicious! After using this steamer I won't be going back to using pots and pans. It's also really easy to assemble and clean. Overall I'm really happy with it.

Compact for easy storage
Having previously owned a Steamer I was looking forward to seeing how compact this one was. My older Steamer was disposed of as we just didn't have enough room but as you can from the picture it packs down for easy storage.
Soft boiled eggs was a must first test, it took less than a minute to set the machine up and 7 mins on the timer to cook a perfect soft boiled egg. Second test was choc chip muffins, apart from my error with the choc chips(they sank to the bottom) the muffins were sooooo moist, cooked 50% of the batch in the oven and you could tell the difference, oven ones were dryer and a lighter brown.
Third test was a full meal with hoisin salmon, potatoes, asparagus and carrots. I prefer salmon pan fried but the fish was cooked perfectly in the Steamer.
Only negative point is that the machine didn't come with any recipe book, I own other tefal products and the recipe books that came with them are great.

Great Steamer for the family
This is a very good steamer, easy to set up and takes up little space on the worktop. Very simple use and water top up system is very good. Easily cooks the vegetables for a family of 5. Very easy to clean and packs away neatly for storage fitting in a kitchen cupboard with shelf above it. It is quite tall when set up but then it holds a lot of veg so that is a compromise. The Ultra compact refers to when packing it away after use.
