Missing the tomato pieces
I do enjoy eating Watties products so was interested in this variety of canned tomatoes. We used it as part of the base for a meat dish served with Polenta and it sure looked and tasted good. However, while the flavour was good, I can’t say I enjoyed the sieved nature of the tomatoes. Being sieved, it also made me wonder what parts of the tomato were lost in the overall product and flavour. If someone as a preference, or out of need, didn’t want the ‘bits’ in the crushed tomatoes but still have the flavour then they would enjoy this product.

Great Product
I really like these crushed tomatoes, I make a batch of chilli con carne every couple of weeks for nachos and weekend mince on toast for breakfast with the hubby and I usually use chopped tomatoes, I much prefer the crushed and sieved as it makes the mince mixture much saucier which I love. I won’t go back to the other ones now!

Great option for fussy eaters
I usually buy the can of diced tomatoes and use that in my bolognese and sauces as I am happy to have all the bits of tomato and peel. But in the past I have a member of the family who didn't like to see all the bits of tomato in the meal so I would have to blend the can of tomatoes up to a smooth puree and add it to the sauce. This can of crushed and sieved tomatoes would've been perfect . The price isn't bad too. The only thing I am a little perplexed about is the addition of so much salt in the can. I always check ingredients when comparing products and my normal canned tomatoes only has a tiny amount of salt.

A tin jam packed with tomato goodness
A definite hands down winner in this house. They packed as many crushed and sieved tomatoes into the tin as humanly possible creating a thick, smooth, rich sauce. We used it as a sauce for our ravioli. I wanted to really test the product and to keep it simple so didn’t make any additions to it and it was delicious. A 4.5 health star rating which matches other brands. I usually buy the diced variety but will absolutely be adding this to my pantry.
