Less sugar
I love Watties tomato sauce and don’t like any other brand. As a Type 1 diabetic I try to choose foods that are low in sugar and this sauce is great as it has 50% less sugar than standard sauce but still has that great tomato sauce flavour that I love. Just the best with chips and who doesn’t love T sauce with their chips!!!

Healthy Tomato Sauce!
Really liked this, I am always looking for healthier options and when I made the family some BLT’s for lunch I used the sauce instead of full sugar tomato sauce as I normally do, no one even noticed it was different! They still loved it so now I can start buying all the time and know we are reducing a little less sugar in our diets!

Perfect companion
Summer time means we are enjoying heaps of different types of salads. We've had several bbq's over the past few days and my trusty curry noodle salad was making the rounds and it was a massive hit. This salad always uses tomato sauce and another ingredient is added sugar but now that I used the 50% less sugar, I am feeling less guilty and I can enjoy more than one sneaky plate. Plus the bonus is, that you can taste no difference and it doesn't take away from the original taste we all love and enjoy. I received so many compliments and even some of our pickiest eaters enjoyed it. A win-win I would say.

Wow what a surprise!
I must admit I was doubtful that the lower amount of salt and sugar could taste any good but it was actually the most vibrant intense delicious tomato sauce I recall tasting. Tysm for test product I'll be sure and buy again.

Less sugar but still sweet
Watties is well known for being full of flavour. When I saw this bottle I immediately thought that having less sugar could be really good as sauces can be so sweet. When reading the ingredients I saw it used Stevia as a replacement which I thought would be interesting as it does give a different flavour profile. When using the sauce you get an immediate strong tomato flavour, but also a lot of sweetness still. Then the aftertaste of the Stevia kicks in and that is what I’m left with. It’s not bad overall but I would have simply preferred less sugar. If you like the flavour of Stevia then I think you would enjoy this variety.

Surprised me.

Too sweet and no flavour
I am not a big user of tomato sauce as I find it too sweet, so when I saw that this had 50% less sugar I thought it would naturally be a less sweet option for me. But I was so disappointed as it almost seemed sweeter and left the tell-tale taste of stevia in my mouth. And because that taste lingers for some time, I am not a fan of stevia. I also wanted more salt as it lacked flavour. I understand that this is a good option for people who have to watch the sugar and/or salt content of foods for health reasons, but I wish they hadn't added the stevia and just made a less sweet version of tomato sauce.

Quite spicy
I’m not a huge fan of tomato sauce so don’t have it that often. I was pleased to see a “healthier” version. According to countdown this has a 3.5 health star rating compared to a 2 star for the original. Initially used straight from the cupboard (with air fried fish and chips) and I thought it was quite runny. Used the next day (on burgers) after chilling in the fridge and it was still runny. It has quite a spicy flavour with a smokey hint. It was very flavorful and definitely fine without the extra sugar or salt.
