I made a wonderful mackerel pasta sauce with this brand and it was so tasty. All I did was cook down some onions in oil and then used the sauce the mackerel comes in. The bones are edible but I removed just in case. When cooking, I broke the fish pieces down into chunky bite sized pieces. The sizes of the mackerel in the can were large enough to feed a family of four as a pasta sauce on top of spaghetti. A wonderfull can of Mackerel if your family enjoys fish
