FoodCycler is perfect for a family
I found that my food waste going to landfill reduced significantly. I was able to put things like meat scraps, old biscuits, bread, other scraps like meal remnants on top of your standard fruit and veg items into the foodcycler. The lid that goes on the food bucket blocked all odours. Regardless of how long I left the bucket sitting in my kitchen! The foodcycler is an easy to use machine. Literally fill you bucket, put it in and press go!

Does what it says to reduce food wastage
The Breville FoodCycler worked really well overall to reduce food waste. I would recommend it to others who have a small living space and want to reduce their wastage. The pros include: - quiet to operate - efficiently reduced the volume of the food in the bucket The cons include: - I’m not sure how energy efficient this is and if the energy required offsets the advantages of reducing waste - The machine is large and uses a lot of bench space

Great concept but fell short
The concept is great and the bucket and lid are great for keeping scraps on your bench without smelling. For me, there were a few areas that let me down. Firstly, the instructions could have been more clear about what the ecochips will be/look like (because mine still have identifiable little pieces of food - should it?). I thought there could have be a information page (not necessarily “instructions”) on how to use chips ie in the garden, can you give them to worms, in pot plants etc...? The machine is too big but the bucket is really small. Our (family of 4) scraps is double the volume of the bucket. I think it should come with an instrument to clean because the dried scraps still to the inside and it’s hard to clear out under the apparatus. Also, I could smell the food when it was running which was pretty gross. I want to know how much it costs/how much power it takes to run because I felt like any good I was doing was cancelled out by running the machine for a quarter of the day.

Great concept, good for small families.
the product definitely reduced waste, and is very easy to use, but using it indoors, especially in a small room, it did not reduce odours. the bucket gets quite full over a day, we have 7 in the house, and the smell of it drying and grinding the waste can get quite strong. Would be an amazing product if could set up outside, with a larger capacity for bigger families.

FoodCycler surpassed expectations
The Breville FoodCycler is very effective for managing home food waste. Although I compost now using a worm farm, the FoodCycler allows me to compost all the food waste unsuitable for other methods such as left over cheese, cat food, rice, bread, meat and fish scraps. I find it so easy to use that I’m using it almost every day and sometimes twice. It is so quiet that I can barely hear it operating and there are no odours whatsoever. The best feature for me is the useful compost it produces. I have been using it as a top dressing on my herbs, tomatoes and strawberries and they seem to be thriving on it.

Reduce waste & fertilise!
First Impressions: - A lot bigger than I anticipated for the size of the container - had to keep it in the laundry and the bucket in the kitchen - Sleek & attractive design - Simple to use - one touch button Pros: - Great reduction of smell & food waste - reduced bin by half - Easy to put together (exception of filters at back) - Lid on the bucket is great for reducing odours while collecting food - Quiet operation - Reduces carbon footprint & contribution to landfill - Chips can be used in the garden for my citrus trees - Really like that it's low power - Accepts more types of food than my worms can handle Cons: - Filters at the back are a bit fiddly - Unable to find the cost of replacement filters - Smell on initial use when drying food - Fruit flies could still get in the bucket through lid somehow? - Some instructions/labels need attention (see pics) - Base of the internal bucket may scratch benchtops - Hard to clean internal bucket with the screw holes (see pic)

Food scraps to garden chips
The breville Food recycler gives you a great feeling on cutting down on throwing away food waste and creating something useful, the machine is super easy to use and pretty quiet for what it has to do to get the final product. While storing the food in the bucket till you commence the process there is no odour when using the lid on the bucket and little odour when completing the process.

Breville FoodCycler System review
Tested the FoodCycler System with some kitchen scraps of vegetable peelings including Pumpkin skin. The bucket was almost filled up to the line. The entire process took approximately three hours. There was some heat and odour generated during the process. The odour was not unpleasant. I was very impressed with the result seeing the scraps reduced to dried crumbly chips. Even the thick, hard pumpkin skin was no issue as I could not differentiate between potato skin or the pumpkin skin in the end. The bucket is quite small and would be no issue to fill daily for a small family. I think this item would be perfect for a couple or small family living in an apartment with no garden. The majority of food scraps are used by many people these days in compost bins or worm farms. I did like the idea of the separate lids with a charcoal filter that is used when collecting scraps to fill the bucket.

Best kitchen appliance ever
Absolutely love the FoodCycler. It is super easy to use. The bucket is a good size for the kitchen bench and the carbon insert in the lid ensures no odours. I have composted for years but always had flies and fruit flies if I left the kitchen bucket for more than a few hours. The FoodCycler bucket allowed me to leave food in the bucket for over a day. We are a large family so the bucket was filled quickly so not left for more than a day. The kids liked having the bucket on the bench with no flies and used it regularly. I was amazed the first time with how much my waste was reduced in size. I have sprinkled it around various trees in the yard. There are no odours at any stage of the process and the dried waste is a good colour and fits in with our mulch. All our food waste has gone in the FoodCycler and we have noticed a difference already in our rubbish after a short period of time. My mother and daughter are also keen to buy one when it is available. High recommend.

Breville FoodCycler
The Breville FoodCycler efficiently converts food scraps into nutrient-rich EcoChips in a few hours. It's simple to use, quiet, and perfect for indoors. However, consider the running costs and replacement filters. Overall, a great eco-friendly solution for reducing waste!

Turn food waste into organic fertiliser
This is one of the best appliances I have ever bought. One full bucket of food waste I only recycle veggie waste and egg shells) gets ground down to a large handful of fertiliser. A few people have said that they can smell the food, but I have never had any odours from the machine, not even from the onion peels and scraps. I suspect they have removed the protective films from the filters that are supplied with the machine, so the filters will not be able to do their job. When you first receive the machine you have to take the filters out, remove the plastic films and replace the in the correct position. The machine is very quiet when its running, it is economical on electricity, and you can save money on expensive fertilisers, as well as reducing waste going to landfill. I have been running my FoodCycler 3 or 4 times a week for around 6 months and I have not seen any increase in my electricity bills. I am also still using the original filters that came with the machine.
