Play Toy Really

I could not believe this was on HTC. Will sew a THIN pillow case, darn a sock or underwear, hem in a dress. Nothing thick. I reccomend using the fooot petal with your big toe and barefoot. To me this is really for an emergency and it is cuteness! Purchased for my teenage niece to try out and encourage sewing. And Yes, she graduated to a larger machine. Smiles

Not a fan

I had a hard time with this because of the size. I felt like it moved around way to much. Hard to sew while trying to hold this in place.

Small but powerful and cute as well

I live in a small studio apartment and don't have room for a regular size machine so this little thing is perfect. I am always having to hand sew a hem or a tear or even a seam at times and this little machine makes it so much easier and faster than having to use a needle and thread.

Effective little machine

This sewing machine is compact but does everything you may need for a basic job. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of larger feature rich machines but will get the job done.

Came Complete

I actually did not know how to set up a sewing machine before this, so this was good practice. I have used one before, however. This is the perfect size for my college dorm. I will edit this review upon further testing.

It really neat!

I love that it's portable, of course!! For me the threading was slightly irritating. Can't seem to get the correct tension. But past that, it's absolutely cool!

Good little machine

The directions were ok it was easy for me because I am sew a lot. It is great for small projects like hemming and such. Light materials work best. I would recommend this especially for someone needing to do small projects often of a beginner.

Just what we needed

My mom used to sew alot by hand in her younger years, but its gotten harder with age and arthritis. We have purchased multiple sewing machines for her, but they all are too complicated, and wanted to give up. But the Mini Sewing Machine Portable Adjustable 2-Speed Double Thread Sewing Machine with Needle Protector was perfect for her. Simple yet effecient. She once again gained her confidence to sew.

Not very good

The mini sewing machine certainly looks cute, but it looks more like a toy. I tried to make some simple rod pocket curtains with it. There is NO backstitch capability, which means stitches need to be finished by hand if you want something that will really hold up. There's also hardly any room for excess fabric to rest while sewing. It's very difficult to stitch a straight line since there are no guides and the foot pedal doesn't even work. It may be good to rewatch a kid or someone new to seeing the basics of using a machine, but this sewing machine is quite a disappointment.

This product is aimed for easy use by beginners. However, the product is a nightmare even for adults! Jams easily, loud, delicate.

Tricky to use but it works

It has everything you need to sew a basic straight stitch including nice bonuses like a built-in light and foot pedal control, but I had trouble getting it to sew even stitches or back stitch to finish the job. Three tries later and I still can't sew a seam without it unraveling itself immediately. It's prone to alignment issues as well that stop the machine from sewing. You have to reset the bottom bobbin to fix the issue (or worst case open up the machine to fix a gear!), which slows you down and gets frustrating. I wish the instructions were better too, including how to reverse stitch and and how to use the tensioning knob. Make sure to read the manual thoroughly before you thread the machine or use the bobbin winder or you will break it. This mini sewing machine is probably too frustrating for kids to learn and have fun with, but if you have simple lightweight sewing jobs like hemming curtains this machine will get it done.

Underestimated

I received the mini sewing machine & immediately thought that there was no way it would be durable or capable enough for much of anything. But I was very wrong! I used it to repair my husband's work uniform pants & it was amazing! It really did surprise me.
